Center for Injury Policy and Prevention Research, Hanoi University of Public Health is a training and research center in injury prevention. Our key research are including road safety, drowning, violence, child injury, disabilty, alcohol, etc. We are seeking two researchers.

Lunchtime seminar with Dr. Abdul Bachani – An expert from Johns Hopkins University. There are 20 participants attended our seminar aimed at introducing the Master of Public Health concentration – a major activity of Trauma and Injury Prevention program (JHU-Hanoi TRIP) during period 2017 - 2021. The program is designed for strengthening research capacity on trauma and injury in Vietnam, as well as their long term health, economic, and societal consequences through an innovative model of sustainable capacity development. 


TRIP HANOI ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MPH STUDENTS AT HUPH CONCENTRATION ON TRAUMA AND INJURY PREVENTION

Master of Public Health concentration on trauma and injury prevention is part of the Johns Hopkins University-Hanoi University of Public Health program (JHU-HN TRIP program) during period 2017 – 2021. The program is aimed to strengthen research capacity on injury and   trauma in Vietnam, as well as their long term health, economic, and societal consequences through an  innovative model of sustainable capacity development. 


Drowning Prevention in Viet Nam _ New Opportunity

On Friday 25th November 2016, there was a meeting between the Center CIPPR and Hanoi University of Public Health with Ms. Kelly Larson from the Bloomberg Philanthropies and WHO staff from the Viet Nam country office, Regional and Headquarters.

Academic Workshop on “Preventing Alcohol Related Harm” – 25th april 2016

In 25th April 2016, CIPPR had organized an academic workshop on “Preventing alcohol related harm”. This workshop aims at providing scientific evidence to experts, policy makers and contributing to the draft law “Alcohol harm prevention” which will be discussed at National Parliament in July 2016.


Youth Violence

Youth violence is a global public health problem. It includes a range of acts from bullying and physical fighting, to more severe sexual and physical assault to homicide. Worldwide an estimated 200 000 homicides occur among youth 10–29 years of age each year, making it the fourth leading cause of death for people in this age group. 


ARSC 2016 - Call for abstracts

Teach VIP course in 2015

From September 28 to October 02, 2015; the Center for Injury Policy and Prevention Research (CIPPR), Hanoi School of Public Health was approved by WHO regional office to organize a training course on “Injury and Violence Prevention in Asia Pacific Region” using TEACH-VIP 2.


RTIRN - Small Grant Workshop in 2015

A regional workshop on Road Traffic Injury Research from March 17-18, 2015 will be organized by RTIRN in Hanoi. In this workshop the grantee from small grant program of RTIRN will have opportunity to present their researches and turn it into publication.

Reasons to get away from alcohol

Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.1,2 Further, excessive drinking was responsible for 1 in 10 deaths among working-age adults aged 20-64 years.

From August 4 - 15, 2014, there has been a training course on principles and practices of injury prevention. 


The Global status report on road safety 2013

The Global status report on road safety 2013 revealed that only 28 countries (covering just 7% of the world’s population) have comprehensive laws on these five risk factors. This is an excellent document for leaders and researchers in road safety field. In this report, there are a lot of lessons from Vietnam which is contributed by CIPPR.


National Workshop - Evaluation Method for Road Safety in 2014

CIPPR cooperated with The Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit (JH-IIRU) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, National Traffic Safety Committee, Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) to hold a national workshop about Evaluation method for road safety. 


Saving of Lives from Drowning (SOLID), Viet Nam

The Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit (JH-IIRU) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health has initiated one of the largest implementation research studies on drowning in low- and middle-income countries.
